If you’ve ever felt confused looking at SEO quotes, you’re not alone. The gap between quotes is huge, and most agencies won’t explain it in plain language. So let’s do that here.
SEO services in India run from about ₹8,000 per month for basic local SEO to ₹3,00,000 or more per month for enterprise-grade programs. That’s a wide gap, and it exists because “SEO” isn’t one product. A small clinic wanting to show up on Google Maps and a fintech app fighting for national keywords are buying completely different things.
₹8,000 to ₹20,000 per month: local and small business SEO
This is where most single-shop or single-clinic businesses start. You typically get 5 to 10 targeted keywords, basic on-page optimisation, Google Business Profile management and a monthly report, with minimal content, little or no link building and surface-level technical SEO.
It’s fine if you’re a local salon, a coaching centre or a neighbourhood dentist. Just don’t expect miracles in a competitive market.
₹25,000 to ₹75,000 per month: growing businesses
This is my rough estimate of the typical middle band, not a fixed industry price. At this level you can reasonably expect proper keyword research, regular blog or landing page content, technical fixes and some link building. It suits D2C brands, service companies and regional businesses in moderately competitive niches.
₹75,000 to ₹3,00,000+ per month: competitive and enterprise SEO
Also an estimate. Here you’re paying for a team: strategists, content writers, technical SEOs and link builders. This tier makes sense for SaaS, fintech, large e-commerce sites and multi-city businesses where every ranking position is worth real money.
Labour costs, mostly. In an Ahrefs survey of 439 SEO providers, 76% of India-based SEOs charged $1,000 or less per month. Globally, the average agency charges around $3,200 a month and the average freelancer around $1,350.
But cheaper doesn’t mean you should expect less. A ₹20,000 monthly package from an Indian agency shouldn’t be treated as equal to a $200 US package. The Indian one should be doing considerably more, and if it isn’t, that’s your first red flag.
Be careful with rock-bottom offers. The same Bangalore source says that below ₹8,000 a month, the market is largely made up of freelancers sending automated keyword reports, or agencies outsourcing to subcontractors who mostly edit meta tags and submit to hundreds of directories. That’s one agency’s view, so take it with a pinch of salt. But it matches what many business owners say about “₹3,000 SEO” packages: you pay for months and get nothing, or worse, spammy links that hurt you later.
And a big one: be wary of any agency that guarantees specific results. Nobody controls Google, and anyone promising “Rank 1 in 30 days” is selling a dream.
SEO is not an ad campaign. Most businesses need around three to six months to see movement and often 6 to 12 months for solid results, so plan your budget for at least that long. Stopping after two months is like planting a tree and digging it up to check the roots.
Here’s a simple way to think about it:
The best budget isn’t the cheapest or the most expensive. It’s the one matched to your competition, your goals and how long you can stay consistent.
SEO in India in 2026 is affordable compared to the global market, but the price you pay should always come with clear deliverables. Compare scope, not just the number on the quote, and choose a partner who explains things honestly instead of just promising rankings.
